    Rxp sinking

04 Rxp just got stage 1 and it gpsd at best 68.6. It's getting 8100-8150 rpms. Runs better than it ever has, but seems a little on the low side as far as speed goes. So, I noticed about an hour later, (when I had less gas) when I did some starts, that I was experiencing extreme cavitation just off the bottom. After I got up on plane it accelerated fine. Took it out to check it out and found nothing wrong with the impeller or wear ring. Put it back in and it did the same thing. So I anchored it and had some lunch. About 30 mins. later I look at my ski and the back step is under water! Take the seat off and it's almost half full of water! Where did the water enter my ski? When I rode it before, it wasn't sagging, so it probably entered when it was still. Is my( on the low side speed) caused by this problem? Phil

Carbon ring on the driveshaft is bad which caused both the cavitation and the water coming in. First thing I would look at is the Power filter, if that is what you have on the ski. See if it is pushing down on the bellow and carbon ring. If it is not touching, then the ring itself is bad.

Check all of your coolant lines going to the Ic and exhaust manifold, the carbon seal ring, make sure ure bilge plugs are in and look at your bailer tubes and make sure none of them have poped off i might have forgot something but those are the ones i know of.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? COuld it have popped off?

Maybe the carbon ring seals in the pump/driveshaft.....?

You did not run it like that I hope?

    Leak

its not the carbon ring just put the stage I kit in wrong check everything that comes close to the Carbon Ring Boot and see whats hitting it also did you remove the nose cone of the old impeller(it sometime slides up the shaft and blends in because it is black). The carbon ring only happens 1 in a 1000 and usaully when the whole engine is pulled out and not aligned properly. Good Luck.
If you have any ?'s feel free to call I can talk through what to look for.

I towed it from the beach area to the launch ramp to take it out. Removed the water and dryed it out, then started it. Was my top speed affected by this?

Gotta love the RXP guys- his boat nearly sinks and he still wants to know if his "top speed was affected by this". I'm sure it was, my friend.
