01 gp 1200r bad cdi box????
So my dad has a 01 gp that the engine overheat sensor keeps going off. It has a riva exhaust kit on it. Both the temp sensors were replaced and the buzzer keeps going off..the alarm will go off as soon as the start button is hit. My question is can it be a bad cdi box. We really don't want to dump much more money into this thing as it needs piston and rings too. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a wiring issue to me. i would make sure the lower sensor is good and use a chip for the top sensor. you may want to OHM the wires from the sensor to the CDI. check all grounds to.

Ill try that when I get home. I have a brand new chip in the top and a new sensor in the bottom. Thats y I thought it was the cdi. When checking the wire should I check for continuity or is there a specific reading there should be at the box??

Some of these guys know the OHM of the sensor off the top of their head. i usually unplug the wiring to be tested and use a small jumper wire and then OHM it to ground on the meter.
