    1994. Wavrunner 3 hull material

So I found a rock in the river today....got a small bash to fix. I'm pretty sure that this hull is fiberglass, can I use Fiberglass reinforced filler?is there something else I should use? I don't know much about body work, but I'm not paying anyone else to do it, and it's a beater ski...any advice gratefully taken...

Most yamaha's of that day were SMC Sheet molded compound. THey are not fiberglass. You cna fix most of these with marine-tex kits...look it up on google or some search engine. Works great and hard as nails

    Good luck

I would guess your hull is made of fiber glass. Did the hull get crushed or did just the colored outer gell coat get scrubbed off? I would take something like a screw driver and rap the plastic handle on the hull damaged area on and the nearby undamaged area. Will the hull ring solid all over or will the damaged area make more of a dull thud? I would think if the hull rings solid overall, I would mix up some hull colored fiber glass and coat the scrapped up area a little heavy. While the resin is still wet, put a pieces of wax paper over the repair and smooth it out with a squeegee. Leave a little heavy to allow for some finish sanding, wet sanding after it cures.

Ok, so I was told,it's smc, not fiberglass...I used the fiberglass resin and mat I bought, cleaned the hull really well with acetone and seems to be working fine...might not last but looks ok today...
