Intake Grate Spacers - a required part?
So, I'm replacing a damaged intake grate on my 96 ZXI 1100 and notice the three spacers in there. They slide in around each grate. they are horribly corroded, but not falling apart just yet. Every instinct in my body is telling me to replace them but it is doubtful I will find them for sale. I am just wondering what the heck their purpose is?. What if they fell apart and I didn't have a replacement? Anyone know if it is needed?

Kawi calls them trim seals. They must be there for a reason.

Clean them the best you can then use silicone to seal the plate up
