    Help

Okay so I am newer to the jetski world, today I went out to enjoy the weather why it's still here and I started my sl780 and it ran fine then after a little while of running it started becoming louder then normal and wasn't going as fast. So I stopped to check the grate underneath and there was a little build up but not much. So I went to ride and there was like no power it did t want to go. The engine runs and it does go just not fast and when you give it throttle it be Rpms get up to 7000 and it's loud. I'm not sure what it could be? Any ideas of where to start. Thanks Zach

    Welcome

See my signature links for lots of useful info.

I am not sure what the cause of the noise is, but here are some things to check.

Inspect the jet pump from front (underneath) and rear for debris. Even a small stick or bottle cap can reduce jet pump thrust to near zero.

If the jet pump is clear, the next step is to remove the jet pump. Inspect the drive shaft splines and mating splines inside the impeller nose and the engine drive coupler. If the splines are rounded over or worn down then parts need to be replaced.

While it is removed check the impeller bearings for smooth operation. There should be zero play and no noise when the impeller is turned by hand. Just smooth motion, no grinding feel or mechanical slop.

When checking splines, don't stick your finger in the coupler or impeller end. There can be sharp edges and metal particles that can be really painful.

Thank you I will check that. If the impeller is rounded in the ends could that cause lack of movement? Ill post a picture to show what I'm talking about. Thanks again!

    Ouch!

That impeller is badly, badly worn around the outside edges. It would not be able to develop much thrust at all.

I would be checking the jet pump bearings next..
