96 GTI Dash Not Working
First off what a great forums here , tons of great info.
Well after years of watching and hearing my buddies talking about riding I picked up a used 96 GTI. My buddy buys , fixes and sells ski's and he got this one at a steal. I guess the women rolled it over and hydrolocked the motor and the stealer told her that the motor was shot. I got a gasket kit and we put it back together and she runs mint. Best 500 bucks I ever spent
Well for the problem now. All the wires are hooked up in the hood and connected to the E-box. The light for the fuel gauge works but that's it. I get no indication on fuel level , RPM or temp. The speedo doesn't work because the wheel on the ride plate is missing but that is something that I can get over the winter time.
I see there are a few stickies for the fuel baffle and that there is a fuse in it. I'm thinking that's the problem but figured I'd ask before I go pulling it apart. But I'm kind of stumped on the temp and RPM not working.
Before anyone says that I shouldn't even worry about these problem and get a better ski this one will be the wife's as I will be getting something faster for next season. I just hate when stuff is not work the way it should be.

Beepers are common to fail, you can pick up a used one in the parts sections or radio shack has on that will work but doesn't fit as well as the oem one, the beeper is under the plastic on the handle bars,
Fuel baffle start with pulling and checking the float, test it in gas as they may float in water but sink in gas, use meter to test if you get no reading look at stickys on the how to,
If the red light is one the gauge is getting power,

I did the baffle fuse fix and now all the lights work but I'm not getting a reading on the amount of fuel that's in the tank. I also did an ohms test on the float/slide and it came back all good. I'm leaning towards a busted gauge???
