    4-Stroke Standup

I love riding standups and am thinking I want to build a 4-stroke standup. I am a recreational rider with a significant mechanical/fabrication background. I've searched through the forums and seen what others have done. Most of them were interested more in going fast, which is nice, but the last thing on my priority list. I'm an old guy and I just want something different, quiet, and cool. Being able to ride at Lake Powell is another goal.

I'm thinking of using an SXR or SXI-Pro Hull. The Pro is obviously much cheaper, but I would prefer an SXR for my kind of riding and just for strength. I will probably leave the stock pump in the ski and just add a good impeller if it doesn't have one already.

I'm wavering between FX-140, STX12, or a mild 4-tec motor for budget reasons. Probably favoring the STX right now just to keep it simple and all Kawasaki, although I have zero allegiance to brand - they all seem to have their advantages. Is there one that is easier to build more compact/light weight than another?

Any opinions or links to material not readily searchable is appreciated.

    -Eric

ya he lives by me... the ski was for sale about 6 months back. I would be shocked if you could fit a standard 4 cyl into a standup.

I've seen a pic of an stx12 in an sxr, but no details - seems like it was from japan or korea. Other than that, I have seen details on a few 4tecs in sxr conversions.
