1996 zxi 1100 keeps cranking after its running

Yesterday my brother and I went in together and purchased two zxi 1100's. of course one of them falls on its face when accelerating. Which I'm learning is a common problem. This particular one does have reeds r&d filter and a can and was never jetted. But the other has a starter problem. It will keep turning over even after its running. Has anybody ever experienced this. Thanks for any input.

Either the starter switch/relay isn't releasing, or the starter clutch is sticking.

My money is on the relay. The clutch should be easy to tell and will kill the starter in no time.

I agree, but his description wasn't very detailed.
