FICHT break in with or without oil added

I have read a lot of posts, and even on SBT forum on breaking in an fuel injected engine, you should not add oil to the gas during the break-in period. But I got a copy of the owners manual for my ski (2000 STX 1100 DI), and it says to add oil with a 50:1 premix during the period. Which is correct?

Update. The manual is wrong. I pulled an 03 DI owners manual and it does NOT include info to add oil

I think it means they want you to mix 50:1 in your fuel in addition to the oil injection system during break in

I agree, but everything I have read is to NOT add any oil to an Fuel Injected engine.

    From their forum:
"These instructions apply to all models with the exception of the RFI, DI and 4-stroke equipped models. For the DI models, do not add oil to your fuel tank. "

I'd adjust the oil pump cable for a bit more oil during break in...that's it. and of course, no beating the shiny engine up for a dozen or so hours.

The premix oil will never reach the bottom of the engine, so there is no point in doing it. It can mess with the injectors as well.

What does oil do to the fuel injection system?

You really don't need any extra oil inside the crankcase because it's all needle/roller bearings. Extra oil in the cylinders would be nice. (As Peter says, increase the pump output).

well there is conflicting info on the entire premix with fuel injection issue With direct injection the extra lube oil goes right to the burn phase as the fuel is injected a moment before ignition..with Seadoo rfi injection it goes into the crankcase first. Since the kaw manual says do it ( previous posting), must be ok to do then right?

I always increase the pump output on a newly installed two stroke, regardless if it's injected or not..and I take it easy on the break in.
