That is not a 98. it is a 97 XP with a 800cc engine. in 98 they bacame XPL with a 951 engine. unless he has a 97 hood put on a 98 which I doubt.
    98 hoods are grey

There were many 97s left over and sold in 98. I don't think they have 98 VIN #'s either. The 98 XPL had a black bottom hull...very easy to differentiate between this, the graphics, and the titanium hood color.

Let the guy shoot you a pic of the VIN. The first two numbers will be the model year. Then the month and year it was actually built.

Its definately a 97, he shot me a pick of him riding it on the cell , i just parked it in the driveway Not in to bad a shape for 1200 bucks., it should clean up nice. The guy had taken it himself on trade for some work, didnt know anything bout it, but i know it runs , needs a battery and stuff, Not sure if I'm going to hang onto it or not. I'll run a compression check on it tomorrow, see what all ive gotten myself into ......again lol thanks guys

Killer deal for 1200 bucks...she does look in good shape. Put a head, Fly's and rejet and you'll have a sweet running 58-59 mph ski.

Not to bad, of course, I went to do a compression check, and realized I had loaned it out to a bud, hopefully get it back today or tomorrow, get that checked. This guy knew so little bout these ski's, someone told him the oil pump wasnt reliable so he should be premixing.but of course its not blocked off. He took the oil out of the resevoir, and dumped it in the fuel tank. Smoked big time LOL. Anyway, i have to drain the tank now, looks like it has bout 7 or 8 gallons of gas in it, with probably a gallon of oil lmao! charging a battery for it, I'll let ya'll know later what I find out. There needs to be oil in the rotory valve cavity. When the injection is removed you need to loop the large oil lines together and keep them full of oil to supply the RV.
