intake grate drop
My intake grate drop from the back and cause water to get into my hull. That was scary I also sunk.

The ski sunk because of that?
That happened to me a few times and water never got in the engina bay!
You will have to retap the holes very very carefully to get the brass inserts back in! Very careful! Be sure not to overtighen it either. My front bolt hole of the rideplate broke off and I needed a new rideplate...

Same thing happened to me(minus the sinking ).....the bailers probably saved me......had the inserts put back in with jb weld....no problems since......

PPG sells insert repair kit. The real fix takes both PPG kit and R7D girdle kit. The R&D kit adds 2 more bolts to the back of the grate.

Will,looked inside the hull and around pump housing and can't see any way water could have gotten in but throw the carbon seal.Some kind of way it pulled the boot back when the intake grate dropped and cavitated to the point I was not moving.
