More on my cavatation issues - Part 2 - PIC

Hi Guys thanks for all the help and guidance on understanding my cavitation issues, I found another hurdle in the road.... I didn't notice before but when I took the pump off I didn't realize that the impeller cone was missing from the impeller, today I was looking around and found it in the driveshaft.. looks like the treats on it are toast, and looks like its missing O rings? on the inside too? I attached a pic... Im assuming its supposed to have O rings on the inside and out and screw into the impeller right? If so I might need to order a new one? Previous thread at (http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=206031) THanks again!

You can leave it off all together. A lot of guys do. Or, you can install one with RED lock-tight

    really?

    thanks
    Totally!

And honestly, I'm not sure what the point is. I guess its to improve water flow towards and into the impeller, but then some aftermarket ones don't even touch/taper to the driveshaft, so you'd think that in itself would create water velocity disturbance. However, Ive personally documented a 0.3mph gain going from NO cone to the speedfreeks cone For only $30....so, that's what I have on mine, with RED lock-tight!

Red loc-tight and crank it on there GOOD, or NO cone at all!

I think im gonna go with no cone then.... the treat on the cone is so bad that it dances around in there, its beyond repair I guess.. thanks for the info guys!

I can tell you from experience red loc tite don't work. ditch it or crank it on very very tight.

Cranking it on tight with *no* red loc-tight cant be better than cranking it on tight *with* red loc-tight.
