Just bought GTR 215, boat ramp question

    Hey all,

I have 0 boating experience, but just bought a 2013 Sea Doo GTR 215 with new trailer and speed ties installed for 11K plus tax. Is it a good deal? I've already put down a deposit, but Im wondering if most people do better or not.

Also, the manual says turn the engine off by 3 feet deep. On most youtube videos of jet ski launching, people turn the power on and put it in reverse to get it off the trailer, and drive it on to the trailer to get it back on. Is this usually ok? It wont be too shallow and kick up sand?

    Thanks.

    Ryan

If you're worried, slide it off, then start once you're in waist deep water.
Be easy on it for the first few tanks of fuel to properly break it in.
Oh, if you wax the hull and runners on the trailer, it'll slide off super-easy when you launch.
Good luck--and enjoy your new ride!

    Welcome aboard the Hulk!!!

Price depends a lot on where your located.

You can back the ski off the trailer without sucking stuff up.

With 0 experience on a ski you bought a rocket ship...

Tightening your life vest tight so when you get tossed is a big thing. Take your time and get a feel for EVERYTHING before you blast full speed..

    No kidding, good point.
Mine was idling on the trailer (pre-ride water leak check) and I noticed something pink swirling behind me. It was a steel marking flag swirling around. Sure glad it was bright pink, otherwise my day would've ended before I was off the trailer.

Exactly what I do. I wait until the back is waist deep hop on throw it in reverse and away I go. Never had any issues so far.

Know your launch facility: If it's a concrete ramp and obviously void of debris, you shouldn't have a problem idling up the bunks. If it's muddy water - you'l need to be more cautious. You're riding a very powerful "vacuum cleaner". With enough throttle, you can suck rocks off the bottom and damage the impeller, tunnel, pump...

Good luck w/your purchase and welcome to the 'hulk.

I paid 12.5k for a 2013 gtr and 2014 karavan single trailer out the door in early Aug. So, sounds like that's a decent deal. I always push her off the trailer or pull it on using the front belt ratchet mechanism. I'm super cautious so never start when its 2.5ft or less. Its a little extra effort, but just don't want to risk any damage.
