Polaris CDI compatability question
I was wondering if i could use a CDI from a 2002 Polaris Virage in a 2000 Polaris Virage?
They both have the same part numbers for stator and coils, just different CDIs. I didn't know if there was a different timing programed into these CDIs due to a "high start" flywheel or if they changed this after 2002. I cant remember. Any guidance or suggestions would be great. I basically have a 2000 virage that needs a CDI and i can get a 2002 Virage CDI for cheap but i wanted some advice before i went out and did this.

It can work.
You may need to adjust the flywheel timing ring if the 2002 engine had a High Start flywheel installed.
You can do a static timing check using the Hall Effect sensor test method, along with a dial gauge to measure piston position relative to TDC. The correct piston distance before TDC was discussed in a thread earlier this summer. Search should find it.
