Who's got the best valve train upgrade ?

I don't plan on running over 8500 but I would like to upgrade the springs and retainers.

    What do you guys recommend?

R&D? Riva? Are there any others?

    Thanks!

Thanks, I see their kit doesn't include the rocker shaft bolts. Do you just order stock bolts from the hulk store?

I'd go with light valves and titanium retainers with the STOCK springs. Stiffer springs will eat hp, and since you're not turning 9k, you don't need em.
I'm running 17-18psi at 8720 (stupid limiter) on light valves/retainers on stock springs. Runs great, and never a hiccup.

What about max rpm being 8300 with the stock springs? Myth?

If your gonna run lightened valves be sure to add the expense of a new head gasket, head bolts or new studs, the cost of the valves and machine work, cam sprocket bolts, crank and cam locking tools. Nothing wrong with this approach but gets costly as hell. Not real sure on how much HP is lost on the stiffer springs but sure it's minimal. The Riva kit can be installed without removing the head and in less than two hours for a rookie mechanic.

Stock valves and stock retainers are heavy, and the stock springs can't handle much over 8300.
If I remember correctly, I lost over half a pound of sprung weight when using light valves and retainers. Buy a cheap electronic scale at harbor freight and weight a stock intake valve and retainer, then exhaust valve and retainer, then weigh a light valve (of each) and retainer.
    The difference is amazing.
