    shoe sealing question

i am sealing my shoe and transom again and can someone tell me why the area on the shoe that is masked up with blue tape by fercho is not filled with 4200 also.
have gone to a lot of trouble to fill all voids correct to ensure perfect job on the shoe and transom and this area was filled last time as i assumed (incorrectly) it would help keep the air out or from attracting air into it..
just want to know to set my mind to rest...

    thanks in advance paul

where the blue tape is paul is the transition from shoe to ride plate. for some reason i think it shouldnt be sealed there because then it would be harder to get the rideplate angle if that area is full of goop

    Yep, what he said.

Also it just isnt necesary because when its on the ski that part is exposed out in the open anyway so theres really nothing to seal. The ride plate just sits in front of it (or behind it I should say). As long as the plug that goes in there was put in with sealant to hold it your good.

Is that part of the pump shoe thats taped off, is that part of the pump plug kit or does that come from the factory that way?

The part thats taped off is that long void that faces the ride plate. The big flat plug with notches in it fits in there flush. I think that was your question? The tape was put there so sealant doesnt get on it and make a mess while sealing the pump. It will be removed.

If you bought a brand new pump shoe, does that plug come in it? Or is that part of the pump plug kit?

so what does yamaha do to fill in that opened area. Do they even seal it up or is it just left open?

Yamaha leaves all the voids open. Thats why we buy the plug kit. With all the holes unfilled it traps air when the ski hits a wave and such. Then when it gets back in the water it releases the air and causes cavitation.
