    Searching for an Anchor

    Hey all,

Searching for an anchor to keep the ski in place at a sand bar in waste deep water around here, not out in the open waters or anything.

Cooper was previously recommended to me. http://cooperanchors.com/anchors . Its 50 bucks though so I wanted to get some opinions before I ordered it. I like that fact that its nylon so it wont damage the front compartment if it bounces in my GTR 215. Is chain a necessity? If I could do without it, I dont want to buy any.

Also, do people usually anchor their pwc with just one anchor tied to the bow? Or do you anchor the back end too? What type of rope do you use?

In addition, I see the fire extinguisher that came with the ski has two black rubber straps holding it in place. There seems to be an indentation in the front storage compartment for an anchor too. Does anyone know where to get those rubber straps? It looks like they are custom made to fit the Sea Doo.

Thanks for the help again on my newb questions.

The anchors are great no you don't need chain. Just use nylon ski rope with two caribineers I have a small float about 1m from ski end so as to keep the caribineer floating

I used a 50ft one. I have one end on the cooper anchor and the other end to shore (either to a tree or my corkscrew) and than make loops where the ski is so I can tie off front and rear. Works very well.

The additional spot next to the fire extinguisher is made for the Sea Doo safety kit. I tried to secure my mud anchor with modified raptor straps in that spot but nope, didn't stay.

This is the one I use. Has worked find for the last 6 months. Like the fact that it folds small and fits into a pouch. I've used here in salt water and thus far no rust plus it holds fine. I just step onto it to push one of the prongs into the sand. hours of beach fun never had them move.
