    Riva Pistons

Hi Guys, I am looking for a little bit of information about Riva vs CP pistons.
I bought a new Riva piston 050 over size to replace a piston damaged by a Chinese exhaust valve.
I have now had info that perhaps the Riva was not the best choice as they have been known to tap the odd valve here and there.
The problem is that I have now decided to replace all three pistons and have been recommended to use CP pistons.
Does anyone have any real facts on Rivas not being up to scratch.
I only spin this motor up to 8100 rpm
    Thanks in advance

There was or were some issues a few years ago of the exhaust valve side of the piston not having the surface area machined enough. I cannot remember who found this. Jerry was onto it pretty quick.

2 of us are running them on turbo rec riding boats and no issues with them and quite a few hrs on them

Nothing wrong with the Riva pistons, I would highly doubt you got your hands on one from the early batch that has the problem with the valve reliefs. CPs are great also and most here opt for them due to the cost factor and they are equal products.

I took the time to look for this old thread so people can read it to gain a better knowledge of the early and only problem with the Riva pistons that were immediately corrected in production from MTC.

Riva's pistons are made by MTC and I have run them for many years. Great pistons. Spinning over 10000rpm. Running 20+ pounds of boost. I can't break them. You will not get Valve contact on any pistons you buy now so don't worry.

CP's are good too. I just like Riva's.
