    R&D grate help on vxr

Put the R&D grate and plate on and I have massive prop spin on hole shot. I had none with stock grate. Installed ppk also. I don't get it. Should hook better with the grate. Created alot of drag to. Feels like I'm dragging a body behind the ski. Still bouncing bad need to re shim the plate. Any idea about hole shot issue ready to put the stock one back on

Is the grate fully mated to the hull, with the leading edge being flush or higher? Did you use any silicone or sealants that could be pushing grate down? (Same thing with the plate) As for the cavitation - have you visually inspected the prop, or checked the wear ring for clearance? It should help sort things out once you get the plate shimmed too.

Don't give up on the R&D parts, especially since you have already spent the $. I'm sure some VXR riders here will help you get everything setup right.

If after making sure intake and ride plate are installed correctly and cavitation still happens its time to get a repitch on the prop...also if you are gunning it from a dead stop try leaning forward a little .

Yes fully mated fits flush grate and plate are intalled correctly. Prop is fine so is wear ring only 20 hrs.

I messed up and broke my own rule of only switch one thing at a time. Going back to stock for now works a lot better. Not impressed so far lost top end and hole shot still doesn't handle well. Plate has 1 washer in front to get even with transom and 1 in the rear . Bounces like a bucking bronco. That's the same set up I had on the stock plate which still bounced but not as bad. Can't explain how it felt other than it felt like I was dragging dead weight. Not as much punch from a roll and none from a stand still. Had to ease into it from a stop.

at what speed does the stock grate become an issue for overstuff ? Might ebay the grate and plate . Maybe have the stock one modified by Jims Perf.

I checked the prop and wear ring at install and they are fine. Ski was fine yesterday. Today not so good after the plate and grate.
