Just bought sl 900 no spark

hello all new to green hulk! I have been reading many posts about no spark... sounds like stator problems? I just purchased a sl 900 1996 . It has no spark. Wondering if anyone has the specs and where exactly is the connection for the stator... i am assuming in the black box? Any help is appreciated. for now i am going to clip the spark plug boots and see what happens thanks.

WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!!
If you follow the wires from the stator (front of engine) you'll see they go to the box, some have a junction outside the box, others you'll have to split.
I prefer to use the Sea Doo water proof connectors or the connectors from the later style ignition systems for Polaris, so I can have the connector outside of the box. From there, the tests are very easy.
Here's a link for testing procedures and of course a little information for your PVL system.

Jay at Atlantic Powersports gives us a Green Hulk discount so maybe give them a shout if you need the ignition up-date kit.

P.S. Be sure to have a fully charged and in good working order battery. Make sure the lanyard is plugged in.

Before you do anything take the battery out and put it on the charger for the night. Polaris' are known for rolling over but not having enough juice to get them started.

When you tested the stator, were you getting a sharp spike in your reading when you turned over the engine?

If you do find your stator is bad, Dave has a used unit.

You can also send your stator to Jet Ski Solutions for repair and testing.

i only got a small reading mostly below 1 ohm. I was turning the engine over slowly by hand on the drive shaft. the reading would only come up momentaraly (sp) and was like .8 or so. I never saw any reading over 2 ohms and last longer than a second, i am using a digital multimeter not the best for reaction on it. Should i be seeing a higher ohm reading then it should drop to a lower reading while i am spinning the motor? thanks again

i did the test again i didnt trust myself ha. anyway i found that it is getting a reading but, it happens so fast even when turning slowly that the meter doesnt pick it up??? the meter has a small bar gauge and i didnt notice at first but this goes down real fast then back up but only shows less than 2 ohms i saw one time it did say 27.2 ohms but couldnt reproduce that reading.

You need to do your reading's with a good analog gauge. (Simpson)

ok ok here it is... went out and got a analog meter. Blue starts out at 50 ohms then spikes to 60ohms then back to 50. Red wire starts at 60 goes down to 50 then back to 60 same for green wire. Any suggestions?
