Will an '06 crank work in an '08 RXP-X ???

I'm advised that only an '07 or newer crank will work properly in my '08 RXP-X.

    Is this correct ??

Do you have access to the whole 06 engine to see what type of TOPS and PTO cover is fitted?

Some 06 skis have 05 engines in them and the 04 and 05 cranks were different as the dowel pin on the end is in a different position.

This would put the timing out on the later for late 06 and up skis.

There is a thread on here somewhere with photos of the differences.

    A quick search found it!!

No, I don't have another motor, I have an '08 RXP-X with a bad set of cases and crank so I was looking for a replacement crank and cases and was told the '07 or newer would bolt in with no issues what so ever.

After reading the thread you found it appears that I was given correct information.

Next question: Anybody got an '07 or newer crank they want to part with ? Or a motor ?

06 and up cases are the same. only difference in 03-05 cases vs 06-up cases is the vent hole for the breather. Old blocks can be used with newer skis if you drill the vent hole.

Also 03-05 cranks use a different pin location for the trigger wheel than 06 and up.

All that is needed to use a older crank is drilling a hole in the trigger wheel for the new pin location.

There is a sticky thread on this.

Also 03-05 blocks have a oil restrictor in them that needs to be removed to use on a 06 and up ski.
If you pull the restrictor it needs to have a 06 and up rocker arm shaft on it.

So the answer to the first question is: An '06 crank will bolt into '08 cases with absolutely no tweeking..

Question two stll remains: Anybody got an '06 or newer crank they want to part with ? Or a motor ?

    Thanking you in advance,

    Gord

Ive got that older block and crank thats already setup for 06 and newer, but it is 05 and older.

The 06 and newer is still a little hard to find.
