Those wires go directly to the rectifier. Unplug the rectifier and ohm out the yellows and red to black. If any of them show continuity then your rectifier is internally shorted. Could also be the stator shorted directly to ground but I would check the rectifier first.

the rectifier was the first thing I replaced ..stator test good .. I have it out no shavings etc. the black wire that comes from the multi pin on the mpem has battery voltage and the wire terminates on the stator mounting plate ..in other words ground ???

Then unfortunately it sounds like your MPEM blew a diode inside....commmon MPEM failure.

you sure there's no broken teeth that fell out when you removed the front cover? stator's are hard to test accuratly.

if you have changed the rectifier, mpem, and the stator, the only thing left is the wiring and pick up. never heard of a pickup causing the fuse to blow though.

make sure the pins at the connectors aren't making contact.
