    Flying Aerial Camera Footage

One of our jetskiers is a bit of a radio control buff it seems. Today he brought one of his toys to the slipway.

I know nothing about these but it looks like a bit of quality kit. At the front mounts a Go-Pro, to the right of that is a little lens that sticks out. He can wear goggles and view from it in real time back in the goggles!

The Go-Pro footage can also be viewed as it is filming but has about a 5 second delay back to this iPhone.

With a good battery pack he estimates about 11 minutes of flying.

Can't wait to go wave jumping and get some aerial camera footage now.

Um, the FAA has regulations on the books for "commercial operators" of remotely piloted vehicles(UAV/Drones). Unless you already have a Commercial Helicopter Pilots License, you're outta luck.
Also, I believe you need an LOA(letter of authorization, from the FAA-for the flight(s)), must stay below 300 feet...and I don't remember the rest of the rules. But, they are working on more regulations as we speak.

Also, in case anyone has intentions of operating one at the World Finals-you must contact Scott F. and get permission before flying. It's in one of his "Blog's" on the IJSBA website.

EDIT; I noticed the OP is from the UK. Probably totally different rules over there......but, I love the footage-thanks for sharing.

Here in the UK there are pretty much no rules. Fly these things where and when you want basically. Rules on skiing and boating are lapse as well. You can go buy the fastest vessel you want, get drunk as a lord and go to see in it without any training or insurance.

Very cool , that looks more like a custom rig and not a production type system.

I have been looking at a few different ones for aerial photograpy and the x830. the rig i want to get it about 18-1900 dollars but will give stunning awesome areial videos with my go pro and my nex5...they are pricey. But do a little research on them, they have gone a long way over the years.
You could also get an inexpensive dji with a 100 dollar camera stabilizer and carbon props and have a rig under 900 doing awesome videos too. So many possibilities, its crazy. Big in the film industry as it can carry a dslr and forgo a helicopter for aerial work. Saves hundreds of thousands on helicopter, crew, permits fuel, ect. Octocopters are wild as well, youtube some videos when you have some free time.
