First time offshore
i finally met up with a bloke that is full into jetski fishing, his fx cruiser is riggers up purely to fish, even has setup a live bait tank on the side that has a constant supply of glowing water which I thought was awesome!
my setup is more the amature weekend warrior that I can remove for other activitys, I had an awesome time we head out from a local passage here in Queensland (east coast Australia)
went about 6miles offshore found a good size reef on his sounder and dropped the lines in, were about 40meter depth within 5 minutes of dropping a line I had a few bites then bang on was a snapper about 2kg, 22inches about ten minutes later I hooked another, got it up and unhooked it layer it down to measure the size and the slippery bastard flipped off the esky lid and back into the drink! Needless to say I was far from impressed,
the other fella hooked a Spanish mackerel with a live bait but it broke the steel line just above the mono join and got away.
now the weathers getting warmer the mackerel will be coming in pretty hard. So I will keep this updated with the next few outings

Congrats on your offshore experience. You can purchase vinyl rulers to put in your foot wells. Just a tip.
