Smile Must Have Mods for FZR

    Hey,

I just got my 2009 FZR which is so much fun. Went yesterday on my first ride.

I learnt that the first must have mod is an intake grate to prevent the bucking. I am unsure if I shall go for the R&D or the Riva. Maybe somebody can explain the advantages and disadvantages of both.
The Riva is easy to get in Germany. The R&D needs to be ordered in the U.S.
Btw, how can I check if I got the version 2 of the R&D grate?

Are there any further mods you recommend and what is their effect?

    Thanks for you help.
    Cheers

I use the R&D grate persaonlly and I haven't had a single issue. Not sure that you mean by version 2 of the R&D grate-- there used to be two version of the Riva grate (one aluminum and now the new one is stainless steel).

As for recomended mods, it depends on what you want to get our of your ski and how much $ you want to spend. My ski is set up pretty basic right now with an air intake, exhaust, manifold upgrade, and a few other things. Take a look at my build thread if you like.

I went with RD as well... might as well buy the seal kit at the same time. Use coupon code "greenhulk" and you will save 10 percent.

    Thanks Mike.

It seems that R&D changed something. That is what I called version 2.

Are there any differences regarding handling and rough water suitability between Riva and R&D?

Riva Intake grate hooks up better in Chop, slightly slower too
