Help on Mods
I'm thinking about modding my 300x and maybe even racing. I'm guessing the SCOM is a must-have for modding. I'm thinking of getting a farthing supercharger pulley. I'm not trying to heavily mod. Just looking to gain a little power w/o ruining the reliability of the ski. Any other recommendations on mods is appreciated.

Forget the pulley kit when u first start out. ...
First decide what class u want to race in
Stock is best class to start with

Never mind about the pulley kit. It seemed like a good way to improve power, but I guess it's not a good place to start.
I'm not sure about what class, but stock seems like a good place to start out. I'm not real familiar about the restrictions of each class. I got the ski for just riding but I like to race other people on the lake, so I figured why not mod it and race for real.

Dont forget some mods compromise performance and reliabilty especially if you arent tech minded.
If your after speed just go scom, air mods, and tray wedges. Then build from there. To be honest theres not much to do ti get a fast reliable rec ski. Its all documented.

actually depends which kit, can you tune a ski and the other is just bling..

If you are a good rider, a SCOM 300x will be very hard to beat. Most of the other skis will need mods to keep up but that will push them into Open Class.
Get out there and give it a go with what you have. You may find the ski stock is not the limiting factor. I know I need mods, but that's for me rather than the ski

Thanks. I might end up just getting the SCOM. Mods seem nice, but if I don't really need them to win, then I'll just get the SCOM. What does it top out at after the SCOM?

Well what type of racing are you doing,CC ,Offshore,Hydrodrags?..IJSBA sanctioned?...
Our Loyal moderator GL has raced CC and been very successful, also Fire21 has raced Offshore and Stangbang and a few other GH contributors have raced including myself.. they can possibly give some tips to you .
But do believe that all bolt ons (intake grate, rideplate, aftermarket prop ,sponsons,SCOM,and even ECU reflash will keep you stock class in CC..at least for what I understood from rulebook and sanctioning director...I raced open class so it didn't matter
Others with more exp. would have more to say on this...
