    Kanaflex intake what filter ?

For those who have a kanaflex intake set up what filter are you using ?

    Do I even need a filter ?

K&N have some 4" filters that are labelled "marine flame arrester" and it looks like it still has the oiled cloth filter material will this be a problem if it gets wet ?

Filters are overrated. Put it up high, I run a bellmouth with stainless mesh just to stop any large objects.

place screen over it. You guys running 4" open tube are asking for trouble. Think about that wonderful Styrofoam in the ski. Little pieces can easily come off and get sucked in. I ran a 4" Spectre under an air intake and it was lined with the little white Styrofoam balls and corrosion. Wound up just running about 12" of the tube backwards with screen over it. Makes a helluva racket too.

I use this spectre all stainless steel that is usable on 3,3.5, & 4 inch applications. It works great. It has like a 950cfm rating.

I just run a stainless screen over the end of the Kanaflex. Sounds great, like a jet on the runway.

For now I'm going to try a screen over the end of the Kanaflex and see if that gives me any problems.

I found this thread by ou812 which gave me some good ideas http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...651#post286651

The only problem is I'm missing the intake piece as the previous owner removed it from my ski, anyone got one for sale ?

Should I also be looking for a new impeller based on removing the R&D intake and installing the Kanaflex ? 14/19 impeller ? With the R&D I'm turning between 8000 and 8100rpm depending on temps.

    Thanks for the input.

Is a catch can necessary if so which will go with the kanaflex tube?? I actually dont understand the purpose of the catch can so a simple explanation would be good too!
