    4-tec head problem

I have taken me 4-tec head down to get machined and as I was pulling the rocker gear off noticed the bolt were ripping the threads out , F%#K .... cam did not spin with no gear on DOUBLE F%#K .. took valves out and noticed bolt had punched a hole in the side next to valve F%#K again ...... 4 of the 6 bolts are rooted . also the head has a repair on another cylinder . Has anyone ever seen this before ???? hopefully it is repairable ...Click image for larger version.

By looking at the photos, you can clearly see the problem. This ski was wrenched on by an idiot. The heads of the torx screws are boogered up, who knows what tool was used, but likely not a torx head socket. (vice-grips, LOL??) The bolt that has pieces of aluminum on the threads is necked in the shank, indicating that it was horribly over-torqued, which is why there are pieces of aluminum on the thread.

That head is unusable. The whole engine is probably unusable if other parts were wrenched on as well by the person that destroyed this head.

Lol. Yes he is an idiot ... the problem was caused from reusing the stretch bolts .... the (idiot) must have not cleaned the bolt holes out before redoing the bolts up and it has punched the holes out ... im 90% sure Joe at southern jetski can fix this ..

I thought my head was F'd (at least that's what people who know me say). Must have used the "FT" torque specs . Amazing that it punched out the side like that? There's some depth left in those bolt hole when installed, so must have had a heap of junk in there and/or just bound up that bad? Would have thought the threads would have stripped out completely before it blew the side out, alway learning from these things. Either way they tortured that shit good.

Are those cam journals ok? Always hard to tell in pics with these as they can look worse in photos than they are? What previous failure did the engine have?
