Thread: Sponsons...

    Sponsons...

Should I keep the stock 2006 GPR ones or change out for mods?

    What is the difference?

    Which ones are best?

I am going to Plate/Grate but somebody told me the stock ones are better.

Can they be modified somehow to be better?

The stock ones will work when you step them. Look in the FAQ section for "stepped sponsons" details.

I run the R&D sponsons, and they are the best for handling so far IMO. They may be a little slower on top end than the stockers stepped.

I just got done making an adjustable set for the GPR hulls. They look like Beachouse, but are 12-way adjustable and more durable...I'll post pics tonight when I get home...

If you made the backing plates so that they can be tilted or stepped, then you will have many sets sold. No other sponson has backing plates that can be tilted like the stockers.

The ones I will be offering will have the following...

    - up/down adjustability of 3/4", thats more than BeachHouse or R&D. All the way down the meet IJSBA race standards, and offer maximum grip...All the way UP they have LESS protruding surface "downward" than a stock sponson (less drag) that is stepped, but more than double the exposed surface lengthwise to provide needed grip when turning....

    - 5.5" of travel front/back...so you can find the right spot.

They "kinda" look like the Riva sponsons, only smaller and 4x's the adjustability (3 locations vs. 12 locations)...And as of now, about $70-75 cheaper...

Bolt on, 10 minute job...Can adjust at the lake in less than 30 seconds per side...

But will you be able to step the backing plate? That's all I'm looking for.
