    Amount of coolant

How much coolant does a 4tec engine take. I am planning on changing it and I need to know how much to get. Also, what brand do you guys use?

I run 25% coolant to 75% distilled water in FL. Whatever mix you choose just get an empty gallon jug, mix it in that and fill til she won't hold more.

I might do 50%-50% up here in CT. Ok so it just has to be marine antifreeze.

RV/Marine antifreeze says not to use it in the engine. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

Yes, that stuff is used for winterizing the exhaust system on our skis, it is also used in RVs and boats to prevent water lines from freezing.

You need an automotive antifreeze compatible with aluminum for the closed loop cooling system.

To do a complete change your going to need 5.5 L (4.8 U.S. qt) in total. As long as its Ethylene - glycol and mixed to a ratio of 50% - 50% with distilled water...you will be okay.
BRP sells a pre mix coolant which is formulated for aluminium engines...but it can be a bit pricey. You should be able to find a suitable compatible antifreeze at an auto parts store.

    Yes that will work.
Just after you refill it you will need to ride for a little while and the top it off.
There is going to be air in the system that will work its way out.
Just dont open the radiator lid when its hot....
