Got the chance to ride the ALL NEW 2014 FZR SVHO

First off I would like to thank Yamaha for giving me the opportunity to fly out to Atlanta and ride the 2014 FZR.

Yamaha has truly raised the bar when it comes to high performance watercraft with the all FZR SVHO. With the new 160mm 8 vein pump, intake grate, ride plate and sponsons, the holeshot and acceleration along with handeling of the ski are greatly improved over the previous model.

The SVHO power plant is incredible to say the least. From the hole shot throughout the entire RPM range is greatly improved and for it being a box stock ski it performs like it was modified. From the first time I grabbed the throttle I wanted to take the ski home . In fact my exact words to Andrew Cullen of Yamaha was it was more than I expected, the ski was really that good and to think it was limited to 7300-7400 rpm.

Normally there is nothing but hype built up around new watercraft being released, however the new FZR SVHO backs it up. From the new hydro turf mats, SVHO engine package and 160mm pump the FZR screams one thing and that's performance.

I am really looking forward to seeing the performance of this ski once the performance gurus on here get their hands on them and unleash the power of the SVHO engine.

For the customer looking to be king of the lake, or as we would say king of the bayou down in Louisiana there is only one choice in my opinion!

How's the handling with the new ride plate? Or is it hard to say with the redesigned sponsons and all the other changes? (I'm ready to order this plate)

For the most part I would say the plate and the nozzle make the majority of the difference. I will also be runnig this ride plate and nozle combo. Keeps the bow down and planted when cornering.

Did you have a chance to ride the ski in anything other than glass? Is this ski better or worse in rough water than the previous skis?
