    new pump shoe ?

Has any one bought a new pump shoe. Just wondering what kinda of condition it was in. I recieved mine and it looked like they took a grinder to it and tried to smoth out the inlet side with real ****ty results. Are they all coming from the factory like that. ?

Yes they look like krap. I had recieved one that we thought had cracks in it. Turns out it was horrible casting marks.

The good news is that its easy to buff smooth. We used an air die grinder with a 3m roloc disc

I thought it had cracks in it too. I sent it back to riva thinking it was a bad pump shoe but I guess there all like that.

I just got a new one in today from boats.net, mine looked like it was used. Richard, what did you use to buff it, just the scotch bright pad? Or did you put some type of stuff on it to get it to buff out good?

The scotch brite pads will work, its just a lot of elbow work. I used a 90 deg air die grinder, 2" arbor, and a 3" 3M scotch brite Roloc disc. You can get the set-up at Lowes or the Home Depot. Took out the big stuff with a medium (maroon) and finished with a fine (gray or green).

Or you can just buy the arbor and put it in a drill if you dont want to buy the air tool. I dont have an air compressor at my house so I do it the red neck way with the drill. It wont turn as many RPM's but it works.

Good point Jeff, but the low speed will leave swirl marks. You need the high speed to get the polished finish.
