Salt residue in the supercharger? - see pictures

This is off a 2006 RXT I bought used recently. I took of the air hoses to inspect the supercharger and I found a lot of dirt/grit/salt? residue in the air hoses about 12in from the intake and outlet of the supercharger. at first i thought the bearings were bad and it was metal shavings, but from the pic the sides of the housing look fine, and the wheel feels tight. also runs fine, supercharger sounds fine when running.

apparently someone got water in the intake at some point?
i took of the intake manifold and it all looks fine, tops of valves are perfectly clean also. there was some salt residue around the seals where the intake manifold meets the intake ports on the head.

should i just clean it all up and call it a day?

    thanks

Clean it up by taking the housings apart....Was the SC ever serviced/rebuilt? They may have the ceramic clutches in still...

The only thing that looks conserning is the chips on the center collar around the retaining nut. I would thoroughly inspect your air intake tubes and outlet. Hopefully whatever caused the chips is not in the motor. Check for ceramic clutch washers and replace/rebuild if need. My charger has some corrosion, not as much, and runs great.

Humm, I wonder what chips you talking about?

Those are not chips....those are balancing marks, material removed to balance the wheel....

I have read somewhere that WD40 sprayed into the intake after a ride prevents this.

im actually wondering how this happens in the first place. Ive owned 2 other RXP's and never saw this at all. supercharger was perfectly clean when i took them apart for inspection.

I have a rear air set up and my wheel looks like that after a season of salt water riding,
    WD-40 after a ride helps,
