2004 Seadoo rxp hard to start on water

Just had a complete engine rebuild, and on the first outing after putting the ski back together, suffered problems.

started the ski on the trailer before launching and it started fine, launched the ski left it sitting for 5 mins or so while locking up trailer, started the ski on the learner key and rode for a couple of mins then stopped to swap over to the full power key and the ski wouldn't start, so pulled the ski back onto the trailer and got it started after a bit of persuasion, put back in the water and the ski would not start on either key so gave in and went home.

looking for pointers on where to start looking to figure out whats wrong

    thanks dougie.

I've had this problem in the past.. Especially when in colder water. Sounds like your flooded. Hold the throttle WOT and crank it for about 5 - 10 seconds. Holding WOT kills the fuel flow and ignition. Then try starting normal. It should crank right up. Holding WOT and cranking is blowing out the excessive fuel in the cyls.

I had that problem also, wouldn't want to start like a dead battery when warm. Check the Positive cable on the starter it maybe loose.

Had a quick look at the ski and the plugs were jet black, will give them a good clean then run on the hose for a bit, will try to take it out in the water tomorrow and will put new plugs in after warming it up
