Is it possible to bench test an EMM for 1100 DI motors?

Hello. I recently bought an 1100DI motor from a friend who was parting out an STX 1100 DI. I'm planning on doing a blaster conversion with it because I live in Vegas, and the only close place to ride has outlawed carbed 2 strokes (Mead). Anyway, I noticed that the EMM at some point took some damage to the outer cover, probably when he pulled the motor. I pulled the cover off and found that the damage went into the potting, but I'm not sure if it did any damage to the circuit board. I would like to see if this EMM is good, but I dont want to wait until I have the conversion all finished before finding out if the EMM needs to be repaired/replaced. Can I hook it up to a battery and use Kadiag or something to check if its still functional?

I'm a total newbie on DI motors. Any help is appreciated.

Im pretty sure you would have to hook it up to the motor and run it. Hooking the emm to software only tells you what parts of the system are functioning properly. I believe DFI can test them for you however. If they find a problem they can repair it right away. I would give them a call and see what they say.

I sent them an email a couple days ago and still waiting to hear back. I'll try them on the phone next week though if I dont hear anything.

Here's a pic. It wasn't this bad at first, but I dug out some of the potting to expose the board and see if I could find any damage. I don't see anything but you never know, that's why I was asking.

I'm definitely not going to just blindly send $600 to these guys to fix something that might not even be broke.

it's a bit more then $600 these days..and it is unfortunate but the attachment failed to upload.

I assume there was damage to the cover..wondering how that actually happened, unless the emm was just dangling by the connectors

in any case try the upload again

sorry, it's going to have to be a super close up/macro Don't have any 1100's on the lot right now or I'd be able to test it for you

it doesn't look bad in this pic best that can tell. how big was the hole in the plastic cover?
