Fueling up on the water, tips to avoid damage?

So I've always brought gas to my skis 5 gallons at a time and filled them on their drive on docks. Next year I'll be moving the skis to a lake and where they are located messing around with gas cans will be a huge pain. There are several on water gas stations but I worry about pulling in and getting the skis beat up while sitting there getting gas. Any tips or tricks to avoid dock rash while having someone shove a gas nozzle in your ski (they pump it for you)? I've always docked them on drive on ramps. The ONE time I tied up to a dock I got a nice gash from a piece of protruding metal.

Every one I been to on the water was self pump. I usually have my feet in the foot holds and keep it off the dock and while sitting fill it up with my free hands

Hull Hugr fenders with bungee cords-do a seach in the general discussion. This is how I dock and get fuel all the time-not a mark.

    Great heads up Rob,

Those are exactly what I have been looking for to prevent "dock rash", without taking up to much storage space. Just ordered a set from "Airhead" for $17.99 each. Small price to pay to keep our skis from getting scratched to @#$^.

See attached picture. Bungee cords run over top and hook to gunwale on opposite side.

Thanks for the pic & idea.

My Hugr's arrived a couple of days ago, now I just gotta go pick up a few flat bungees.
