    Intermittent Bad Vibration 05 RXT

2005 RXT. 85 Hours. 20 hours on SC. 93 Octane only. All Stock

Last weekend went out riding. I was out on the water for a couple of hours when some strange stuff continued. At random times my ski will start to have a bad vibration above approx 20 MPH. It rattles to the point where my front hood shakes. If I ride it out for a minute or so at 20, then the vibration goes away. It comes and goes at random times. I can accelerate way beyond the 20 MPH during vibration cycle, but certainly dont want to do any damage. I have pulled the seat at different times while out and I see no obvious signs. Plugs are good (new), oil clean and full. No issues with clogs, throttle response or Forward/reverse either. It will happen a couple of times while riding over the 4 or 5 hours with no other signs. This is the second time it has done this. Every time I check fluids and look for leaks or water and see nothing. I am about to winterize so I figured now would be a good time to take some pointers while I have it on the stand. Thanks

I suggest you look at all 3 motor mounts very closely. Where they attach to the engine and where they attach to the hull. Look for cracks, broken bolts, try to lift and move them around. They may "look" fine but......

I'm putting money on motor mounts as well. If they are bad, get them repaired before it's too late. I had broken motor mounts and my engine shifted out of alignment causing 2,200$ in damage.

When the engine shifts out of alignment is the damage internal to the engine or is it in the propulsion system ?

You can do damage to either one.

Check mounts first but, i'm with psycho. You count have a craped out pump bearing or slight unbalance issue at the prop. Or even small debris the sets the vibration off at a certain rpm.

I agree. Definitely check out the motor mounts.

The stock motor mounts are very flimsy. Especially the front mount. When the front mount fails the engine moves forward too much and causes the rear mounts to fail. For this reason it's very important for these skis to go with an aftermarket mount such as this one

    Thanks!

Best way to test is to just grab the motor near each mount and see if you can lift or move it
