    QStarz GPS data logger

I recently purchased a Qstarz Q1000eX 10 hz GPS data logger. The cool part of this thing is it is totally self contained, about the size of 1/2 a pack of cigarettes. You import the data into your computer later and look at the data in your favorite software. In this screen shot, I was using MegaLogViewerHD but the device comes with it's own software that is a little flaky. This thng can be found on ebay for about $180 to your door.

Here is a little test I did yesterday in a subdivision. The acceleration rates and speeds are very low by racing standards but you can get the idea of what is possible. The longer straights are 770 feet just to put things into perspective.

In this screen shot, accel is in blue and decel (braking is in red)

This will be huge for testing the race skis I deal with.

A friend will be testing on a turbo ski today.

Way cool stuff and as always have fun testing.

Here is a little data off an old school 951 ski wile a mechanic was checking the ski out for winterizing. He happens to be a past World Finials winner so he is far from a noob at throwing around a ski.

In the first plot, color indicates speed.

The color on the next plot represents acceleration. Red is braking and blue is hard accel.

Cool stuff! Mine will be here on Monday. I'll do some playing around with it on the new 2014 FZR

The Qstarz software is rather buggy. You need to install the SW from the CD and then DL the latest SW from the Qstarz website to just get the SW to accept the serial number. Once installed and registered, I have found it easiest to export to MLV for graphing.

it worked ok in a car but sucked on the ski. Very inconsistan. It will do every thing. You need for it to work with a ski ie can set it for a rolling start, but its just all over the placed from one run to the next. O it would be assume if it would work, Maybe I got a bumb one but to make any changes based on that would not be good.
Let me know if it works for you, I will try it again. I sent it back.

Did you have the qstarz latest stuff. The older stuff was way slower.
