    Carbon Seal check

Can someone tell me how to measure wear on the cardon seal? I looked and I seems the driveline needs to come out front ways in order to replace it. 96 XP.

I could be wrong....but I think the collar that the carbon rides against slides back...on the driveshaft.... towards the pump (or carbon seal) and exposes a "c" clip on the driveshaft??

if there is water in the hull, the seal is likely worn out.

The issue isn't measuring wear, the issue is inspecting the mating surfaces ( top hat and carbone ring) for near perfection

When in doubt you are better of replacing the ring, it's not too expensive compared to sinking.

Based on your observations, your very next stop should be a service manual.

On my skis I never measure them...over 15 years on XP and XPL. If it isn't leaking water you should be fine. I never run my skis very long out of the water either. The seal heats up quickly and there is not water to keep it cool. It shortens the life.

If its not leaking I wouldn't mess with it.
