Thread: not charging

Ok, my RXT is not charging, I replaced the voltage regulator with a known working one and still nothing, I measured the Vac output at the connector and have 25Vac at idle and 40Vac at 3k rpm when the manual says should be around 25. Is the magneto known for going out and overcharging? (therefore frying the regulator) Wires are good, ohms at the mag connector (pin to pin) is 0 ohms and infinity pin to ground. Any help would be appreciated, many thanks in advance.

Check the fuses for the charging system. The early model 4tecs were famous for blowing fuses and not charging. There should be 2 or 3 30 amp fuses near the battery or inline with the starter solenoid.

yea check the fuses and check the regulator and also try to check the wires from the regulator to the motor and if noon of those work is your stator and everything will be fix same thing happen to me

fuses are good, continuity between the stator and regulator is good.
