STX 15F, Valve locks are breaking up, anyone else?
2008 STX 15 F, less than 40 hours on the ski. At 32 hours, ski was brought to me with no compression in #1, found intake valve bent, valve guide broken, and valve locks totally broken up. I replaced said parts and changed oil, ski ran great, good compression all the way round. Several weeks later, ski comes back to me, no compression on #4, I check it out, broken valve guide, and broken up valve locks.
What could be causing this. If it were a car, valve "float" would be a possibility, usually caused by weak springs due to wear, however I've never heard of this on a ski, and this thing is so young, less than 40 hours at this point. Google didn't really come up with much.
Oil looks good, no metal or water in it. Any ideas?

id be checking clearances and confirm all collets and shims are seated correctly.

The collets are fine if they are seated properly.

Sounds like valves are floating, shim gets out and between tappet and retainer, pushing the retainer down, letting keeper pop out, etc. We see this on Suzuki motors when used in race cars.
What kind of spring seat pressure are you setting the head up with?

From the 1st post I get he only replace 1 set if failed components. ...
I feel the problem started when you didnt replaces ALL the springs ir atleast check seat pressure. ..
Untill you service the head correctly it will keep happening. .

This ski only had 32 hours on it when this happened, my question is why did this happen the first time?

Its very easy to not get the collets seated correctly and have them pop out.

I have a noob question, is there a suitable substitute for the Kawi valve compressor tool? I've seen several "c clamp" style valve compressors online, is the the adapter size 22mm?
Also what is the correct shim diameter for the 15f?
