Cool What rides are you considering for 2014?

Here's my list in priority order...could definitely change if Mudbug sounds promising or if I get deeper into FL than Panama City.

2 MS Barrier Island Loop 150
3 Tickfaw River and Amite River 70
4 Destin to Panama City 60
5 Panama City to St. Joe loop 90
    6 Pensacola to Destin 100
    7 MS River-Vicksburg to Natchez 75
8 TN River and Lake Jocassee 150
    9 MS River-Natchez to Baton Rouge 130

I think "us" takes care of the plural, and "too" would take care of the also.

So which ones you in for? Where are you guy's lists? I'm down for any rides y'all come up with as well...

Being that we are the n00bs, we're just happy when we can get other folks to go with us! We both find that we really enjoy the group rides and the socializing that goes along with it. And even though there seem to be quite a few people in Acadiana with PWCs, there doesn't appear to be any kind of organized riding going on. So unless we can entice you guys to come here, we're on our own (pretty much). Hence, we will make every ride that we can with you guys.

FWIW Zig, I still want to do the Delcambre/Abbeville trip. And you're a vet for that run. You could easily guide us on that out and back. Maybe a good early, warm, spring day.
BTW, I'm still working on that ride for you around Lafayette, but, to be honest, it doesn't seem all that exciting. Still, new and different is good.

Out? Yup. Back? Not so much... But when my 4th GPS gets here, I think we'll try it again. Besides, we're itching to ride!

Did I say 4th GPS? Yes, I did. First didn't want to transfer routes to internal memory. So they had me send it in and they sent me another. Second unit: same problem. Only this time, they sent me a refurb just wrapped in bubble wrap, not even any cords or accessories. So I sent that one back, too. They received it today, so I should have my new one soon.

Good grief...what model GPS is that again?

I wouldn't mind doing the Abbeville area. That's the one near Avery Island right? Is the Tabasco plant worth touring? That would be an excuse to make the trip.

The GPS is the Garmin GPSMap 640. It seems like it will be a really good unit if I ever get one that works correctly.

Abbeville isn't very far from Avery Island. Closest is New Iberia. Then Delcambre. Or Broussard or Jeanerette if you go other directions.

I wish I could tell you about the tour, but the only time I went was on a 3rd grade field trip. That would have been like 1966. It may have changed since then...

Avery Island is worth the visit: First off, the uniqueness of the island itself is something to behold. It appears to be a small mountain rising out of the GoM. It's actually an enormous pillar of salt that has been pushed up by tectonic forces... Sadly, the tour itself is not what it used to be. It's not the same tour Bryan or my wife Kay experienced. They used to take you on the "floor" - now your behind a glass wall (FDA rules). The Jungle Cruise, however, is worth the trip alone - if you like that kind of thing. It's a self-guided trip, by car, through the islands botanical gardens. I'd like to do that again in the Spring. For that same reason, I'd like to visit Jefferson Island/Rip Van Winkle home.
