Bought Voltage regulator - But got different number?
(Marto) was selling a 4060302 LR31-2 on ebay for a reasonable price(believe it or not) so I bought it as a spare. When it got here I received
a 4060115 LR-23, is this the same? is there any difference in how the ski
will perform? Should I send it back for refund?

Are the LR-31 and LR-23 voltage regulators interchangeable?
My understanding is that the LR-31 (and LR-31-1 and LR-31-2) is a newer design presumably with a higher current rating.
The LR-31 is physically larger than the LR-23 module which leads me to think it was redesigned to handle higher charging amps or otherwise be more robust. This is entirely speculation on my part as I have not disassembled them and compared internals.
The LR-23 should work in place of the LR-31, in terms of charging the battery and maintaining the correct battery voltage when the engine is running. I could not say whether or not it will last as long or be less reliable than the OEM LR-31 version.
For reference, the LR-31 is 3 inches by 3 inches square, including the metal tab.
The LR-23 is 2.5 inches square including the metal tab.
