    Steering cable help

I have a 2004 seadoo gtx supercharged. Steering cable plastic nut broke at transom and I am trying to replace it. I can't seem to figure out how to slide off the old broken plastic piece and put the new one on. I have taken off the bolt that attaches to nozzle but don't see away to further disassemble the further. Is there some other place the cable comes apart? What I'm saying is there is not enough clearance between the nut and part of the cable to slide the nut off the back of the cable. Something else must come apart in order for the nut to be removed. Please help.

you have to remove the cable end connector(10mm i think),also,if the plastic nut broke, there's a good chance your cable is shot.

I removed all the end pieces but the nut will not slid over the little boot about 2 inches from end of cable. There are no more nuts or connectors I see to loosen.

U need to get the boot off. Then try and pull the cable into the ski. The threaded part of the nut comes out with the right size e z out. Get a new nut and the 2 plastic halfs that go in the nut and put it all back together.
I did this with a reverse cable. I think the steering cable is the same.

As hotbird stated don't forget the two half moon inserts as they more then likely fell out when the plastic nut broke.
