Want to turn more RPM's, got some questions

Starting to plan out my winter mods and I would like to spin the motor alittle faster. Nothing too crazy like 9k+. Was thinking 8600 or so. Currently I'm turning 82-8300 on a 8400 ecu @80.6mph.

I know I will need to reflash, repitch and upgrade the springs/retainers. Question is, is there anything else I will need to add as well?

I have never done any valve work before, what will I need and is there a how-to for springs and retainers?

    Thanks guys

For 8600 go with this spring/retainer upgrade kit

    use this tool

Thank you Jerry that helps out a lot. Those are the springs I was looking at. Though I haven't really decided how far I want to push this motor. It's a rec only ski so I want to maintain a decent amount of reliability. How far can you push it with upgraded springs and retainers before you put the stock valves in the red or the rest of the motor?

I recommend also doing lightweight valves if you plan to run 8800 or more RPM

ok, I think I might have the set the limiter to 8800. think that will be alright without having to go lightweight?

glad you brought that up, as as far as I can tell, I have the 75 stamped valves on the exhaust side and 72 stamped on the intake side. It is an early 06 motor not sure if I am reading it right though or if this is normal.

I used the exact set up Jerry is suggesting to use and it worked great,
but until I had my ECU reflashed it would not go over 8200 rpms,
I now have a 8900 rpm rev limiter set, I can only reach that rpm when the water and air are down below 70*f
    good luck,
