Spark Class for LB2CAT Offshore National Championship Race

    Gentlemen,

Working on creating a Spark class for the 2014 LB2CAT Offshore National Championship Race - thoughts? Think we can get six of them out there to create a class? Has anyone determined the range of this craft at WOT? Thanks

Current guesswork is maybe 60 miles range to completely drain the tank at wide open throttle. Maybe much less.

The ski-doo sleds can go 300 miles on a single tank of fuel with the ACE motor, I am sure that is at various throttle positions and not WFO all the time like in a offshore race. I cant imagine that you would loose that much mpg in a ski vs sled?????

Traction and drive slippage on land or snow is very different than on water.

Friction/drag is also very different for a wetted hull surface compared to rolling wheels or belts and skis on snow.

This is why it takes hundreds of horsepower to move a watercraft at 80+ mph while a land vehicle needs a fraction of that power to cruise at 80.

How fast can those ACE powered snow mobiles go? Compare to the Spark top speed. That is one way to gauge the efficiency difference.

I dont think you would find many riders that would be able to hold the throttle wide open on a spark in an offshore race. I am betting that fuel capacity and range would not be the issue.

It's a cheap way for people to enter the racing circuit without breaking the bank. It wouldn't be the average Spark owner.

This sounds like ploy to get seedoo involved for sponsorship money. No one in there right mind would do this race on a spark even on a flat day. It's half the weight and size of a 15f. Light weight under powered and zero storage just sounds unsafe to.
