    not a jet ski but powered by a kawasaki 12-f

    hello since I am a newbie here I build aluminum jet boats for fishing the lakes and rivers here in central cal. so far I have built 5 boats 3 2 strokes and 2 4 strokes mine is a 16' bass boat running a kaw.12f motor and a Yamaha 155 mm. pump the other 4 stroke is a 16' with a 250 f kawa. with a custom built pump the intake is a Berkley with a see doo back half if you have any comments let me know thanks will

    What prop are you usong and what rpm?

    I am running a solas and the motor turns 6200 rpm

    You can get better speed by putting a shorter prop and spinning it up to 7000-7400. 6200 isnt enough to make power on that motor.

    Tell us more about the 3 stroke

    Photos are always nice. Would be fun to see these custom boats!

    sorry about that it was late and I didn't proof read my post as far as the rpm I am running a factory ecm

    Right but if you are using a 155mm pump and the wrong prop you will be down on power and slower, get the rpms back to 7k and you will have a lot more speed.

    Yes some pics and info would be cool..... I have be contemplating building one myself, I have a one off pump already, jon boats run cheap around here some times if you wait for a deal....I did buy a JS 550 a couple years ago and was going to use it, stock its only rated at 55 hp, the pump I have needs 100 to 150 hp to be able to get the RPMs up....

    Depitch the prop to get it about 75-100 rpms from the limiter......You arent even in the power at 6200......

    I haven't found the rev limiter yet what is the factory setting at ? or what has to be done to run that kind of rpm ?
