    Water Pump

This is on a twin engine boat and one engine you can tell the cooling syystem has been worked on bc the oem clamps have been replaced and the other engine seems untouched BUT noticed a clamp on the water pump body. I removed the clamp and I don't see a crack or leak BUT thought maybe the other one should have a clamp on it as well OR is it common for the pump to separate there?

Might have been past issues with the thermostat, which is inside this housing. The only way to get the thermostat out is to separate the two pieces. The outer piece of the housing (part which has the hose on it going to the ride plate) is pressed into the thermostat housing and is held in place by locking tabs that locate in the notches that you can see under the clamp that you`ve removed.
The clamp was probably put on to ensure that the two pieces stay together and dont separate. It wont hurt to leave the clamp on, for peace of mind. Better that than the two pieces coming apart and you losing your coolant, possibly causing engine damage.

Tabs look intact but I would rather play it safe for sure. Will do, thanks.
