    2001 gp1200r build

Hi guys, I've been following the site for a while now and thought I would post up a build page of my gp1200r. I picked the ski up in October on the trailer for $500aus and since then have completely stripped it down to every last nut and bolt for a rebuild. The ski is currently at a friends shop getting fully painted and I get it back tomorrow so the fun of reassembly can start! So far I have rebuilt the engine with a new crankshaft, new pro-x pistons, recoated cylinders (by the way for all the Aussies on here, send your barrels to nz cylinders, can't praise there work enough!!!) new power valves with wave eater clips and couplers, ada head with 40cc domes and WFOperformance 4 degree key. I have also match ported the cases, cylinders and manifolds. The carbs have been modded to oside bills specs with pro k flame arresters. All bearings and shafts have been replaced, tunnel mod done. The exhaust will have the jetworks mod done and I will be running a 13/19 solas prop, worx grate, protec ride plate, r&d nozzle as well as worx sponsons. Some other cool mods I have in store for it are converting the standard speedo to a gps unit as well as a manual drop nozzle setup that I am currently fabricating. Can't wait to get to work on this and look forward to posting pictures of the build for you guys to check out!!!

Welcome to the Hulk. it sounds like you already know a lot .... and you have a pretty good plan on the rebuild. How come you are just getting on here ? Your background knowledge of Yamaha parts & GP particularly, suggest you are not new to the game. Good Luck & post some pics

Thanks, I really appreciate your comments!!! As far as accents go ill be leaving the hull all black. I am however having the plastics (air ducts and glovebox lid) painted in either a satin of matt white with a 24 carat pearl over the top. It's basically a green to orange pearl. My mate who owns the paint shop is in charge of that and I've given him free run to see what he can come up with. My little brother also owns a sign shop specialising in custom graphics so he is set to hook me up for decals. It won't be anything too over the top but will be neat. I have snow camo hydro turf coming for it as we'll as a hydroturf seat cover. I am really enjoying working on this and can't wait to post more!!!

Had a big night tonight. I got the reed stuffers match ported to the intake and finally got the motor back into the hull and the coupling all aligned. The carbs and flame arrestors are all fitted up and ready to go. I also got the fuel cap and hull fitting from ADA Racing fitted and it looks trick!!! More to come tomorrow. Thanks for the comments OzarkyamMonster. I'm really happy with how its all coming together. Had the build planned out so well that everything is falling into place.
