    STX-15F Driveshaft Bearings

    Guys,

See below post in a different section, any thoughts? Would what Kawasaki calls "holder" have to be replaced also? Ski is a 2008 with 195 hours.

Not good on ski, needs driveshaft bearings. Not sure but it may have to do with the engine coming out 3 years ago for the fuel tank recall. I had this recall done at Xtreme Machines on 33 in Millstone and they left cooling hoses off initially, almost sunk the ski at Bulls Island. Last year I had to replace the exhaust pipe when the blue coupler started to have a hole in it, found out they never set the waterbox all the way onto the exhaust pipe.

Rudy at R-Rated thinks that maybe the engine wasn't aligned when put back in, won't know for sure until it's pulled again. Going to deal with this this coming March as it's shrinked wrapped for now.

If the bearings are available and the case is in good shape, change the seal, bearings and silicone everything back in. I have 250hrs on my 12f and have not had to change it so make sure that the engine allignment is correct when you put it in. I believe that is the biggest reason that these fail, that and sucking rope up.

I know this is an old thread, but I need some advice.

I also have to replace a bearing carrier, and want to know if the entire engine has to be removed, or can it be lifted high enough without removing the intake and exhaust manifolds?

    Thanks

You can do it with the engine up but still in, just be very careful. I dropped a stx 1100 motor on my finger doing that.

you cannot be careful enough working on that stuff. Lots of places you can get bad memories from.

Move very very slowly...a selection of 2x4's cut in short lengths is finger insurance.

Never dilly in a place where you are going to need to use your health insurance

Have a pal around while you are doing it.
